What is a botanical melt

What is a botanical melt?

A botanical melt is a concentrated plant infusion in solid form. Eastern Petal extracts its blends below 40°C. Dissolve a melt in hot water for a warm or iced drink, or allow more time for a cold-water start. Inspired by Cha Gao, a historic form of concentrated tea.

The origin

Inspired by Cha Gao

Cha Gao (茶膏) is concentrated tea in solid form. It offers another way to think about a familiar drink: an infusion that can be carried as a small piece, then prepared in a cup.

Eastern Petal takes inspiration from that format. Our botanical melts are a contemporary collection of fruit, floral, spiced and coffee-and-tea blends. Explore the tea history behind the idea.

The Cozy Ritual

Add one melt to hot water and stir until fully dissolved. Let your drink cool to a comfortable sipping temperature.

The Slow Melt

For a more concentrated taste, let a melt dissolve slowly on your tongue. New to melts? Start with a cup.

The Iced Cup

Dissolve one melt in hot water first, then add cold water and ice. If you prefer a cold-water start, allow more time for the melt to dissolve.
